A NEW theater production company in Winchester is gearing up to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
Plant Unltd Productions will present Hotel Elsinore.
The company’s Susanna Hamnett said: “We’re a new production company who also happens to be a Winchester-based family of performers/actors – mother, adult son and daughter. We moved from Toronto to Winchester during lockdown and created a new play together which we are taking to the Edinburgh Fringe in August and also premiering/fundraising at St John’s Church in July.

“I presented my solo show Almost Lear there in the church twelve years ago as part of a world tour that included a wide range of venues in the UK as well as Broadway and the Sydney Opera House. My kids were 13 and 9 at the time and were on this five-month tour as home-schooled stagehands! And now they create and play with me in this new room, Hotel Elsinore.”
The show is about families and was created during confinement. It takes place in the liminal, claustrophobic confines of a hotel room where the family is pressured to come to terms with their unresolved issues. by Shakespeare Hamlet as the pivot around which the family history revolves.
Susanna and her children Joshua MacGregor and Lily MacGregor star in the series.
The fundraiser at St John’s Church will take place on July 9 from 7:30 p.m. Tickets at the door, cash only. It costs £15 and £10 for concessions.
