Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) added 10 TVU One 4K HDR mobile transmitters to its existing TVU complement for greater live news coverage and a VS3500 4K UHD TVU server for website streaming content support and social media.
Nairobi-based company Philmart, a partner of TVU Networks, provided systems integration services to KBC. Philmart also provided training to KBC’s editorial, technical and ICT teams on how to operate the TVU Cloud solutions from TVU Anywhere, TVU Partyline and TVU Producer.
“TVU is the backbone of our ENG operation,” says Job Karimi, Technical Operations Manager, KBC. “We are able to report various incidents as they occur and keep the public up to date with the latest news as soon as possible. We use TVU every day in our daily production of ENG information. In cases where we deploy our OB van, we also use our TVU One units to capture critical cutaways and to cover areas where the OB van cannot. From the market information we have seen, TVU is a superior brand, and following our acquisition of their technology, this has proven to be true.
KBC has been a TVU customer since 2016, when they first purchased ten TVU One mobile transmitters which were first deployed in Kenya’s 2017 presidential elections. As the only licensed public broadcaster in the country, KBC the organization remains committed to keeping Kenyans informed of local news in a thorough and timely manner.
“KBC and Philmart are long-standing partners of TVU Networks,” says Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “It’s gratifying to see how KBC has used our solutions to advance their media coverage. Based on what they have accomplished so far, we expect their media services to continue to break down borders both locally and globally.
