Valley STEM and MCCTC partner with America Makes
CANFIELD – The Valley STEM Academy and Mahoning County Career and Technical Center have announced a partnership with America Makes to participate in the newly launched Ohio High School Additive Manufacturing Training Network.
The network will provide formal education and training in America Makes technologies to high school students and their educators to ensure the next generation of workers in Ohio are equipped with the skills necessary for high-tech manufacturing jobs, a statement from hurry. Initially, 10 high schools across the state, including those in urban and rural areas and representing public, charter, vocational and technical schools, participate in the network. This America Makes Education and Workforce Development program was created in conjunction with the Ohio Development Services Agency and is funded from the State Operations Budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
“There is no doubt that our state and our nation are facing a serious shortage of skilled labor and a misalignment of skills and competencies,” said Josh Cramer, director of education and development at America Makes Workforce, in the release. “We need to act now with K-12 students, immediately focusing on high school students and empowering their educators – from teachers to principals and counselors. [America Makes] advanced manufacturing technologies and careers.
PDC helps recruit workers for Macy’s through career fairs
The Professional Development Center, with support from the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber, partners with Macy’s to recruit skilled and skilled workers.

State Farm Donates Amazon Echo Show Devices
Last month, State Farm Insurance teamed up with local community partners and donated more than 2,500 Amazon Echo Show devices to 100 Ohio schools, nonprofits and local municipalities.
The aim was to help them stay connected and to provide interactive tools to help them become more efficient and build stronger communities, a press release said.
Mahoning Valley schools and nonprofits that have received donations:
- APT Austintown;
- Mahoning Valley Habitat for Humanity;
- Mahoning Valley Autism Society;
- Boys and Girls Clubs;

YOUNGSTOWN – The average price of gasoline in Northeast Ohio is 3 cents lower this week at $ 2.96 per gallon, according to the AAA East Central gas price report.
