Beachburg, Canada: Heliconia, the award-winning production company behind the popular TV series Epic trails, Facing the waves and Adventure cities, is excited to launch their very first Epic Trails short film competition.

Heliconia seeks to tell the story of the world’s most remarkable trails. The Adventure Travel Production Company invites Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOS), Tourism Boards and Travel Agencies to share what makes the story of their trails so special, whether known or unknown . The winning region will receive the full creation of a Heliconia short film, including story writing, film production, editing, exposure through film festival entrances and a digital campaign to l support for the launch of the film. The competition is open to trail running destinations around the world.

Behind every great path hides a beautiful story. A story about the people who built it… about its people and its habitat… about the cultures it shaped and the lives it changed. “We are storytellers here at Heliconia and as such we are constantly on the lookout for stories that encourage people to get out there, enjoy the outdoors and experience adventure.” explains Stefanie Manton-Ward, responsible for tourism partnerships. “With COVID-19 and global travel restrictions, our storytelling abilities have been hampered. Now that things are starting to open up again, we are delighted to have the opportunity to create a film festival-worthy centerpiece and support the tourist destinations that have been hit so hard by the pandemic. “

Destinations wishing to submit their routes to the short film competition can enter the online competition here: www.heliconia.ca/epicshortfilm, or by calling 1,613,582,7154 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Heliconia will be reviewing the locations over the next few months and working with the winning destination to find a filming date that works best for both parties, with the goal of completing filming by summer 2022.
