Ancient the island of love star Alexandra Stuart let fans experience what it was like filming the popular reality TV show.
Stewart joined the first season of love island usa on CBS in 2019, and last night she shared a video on TikTok explaining her experience on set.
Stewart prefaced the video, which was titled “The Top Questions I Get Asked About Being an Islander on the Island of Love in the United States,” with a promise to viewers: “No control, I tell you everything.”
And she definitely delivered.
Stewart kicked off the big reveal by addressing one of the show’s most puzzling conditions regarding cast members’ access to their cellphones. Often, reality TV stars are forced to give up all forms of electronic devices, including cell phones, while filming (for various reasons).
Stewart explained in the video that this was not the case when filming the series a few years ago.
As she passed green in a photo of five cast members from Season 1 taking a selfie on set, Stewart said, “Phones – I know it’s such a big thing for everyone that ‘they just can’t understand [that the cast has access to cellphones]-we don’t know the day or time, all phones have different dates and times. No one knows unless they have a sundial and know how to read it.”
When it came time for scenes that the producers said required an adult drink, the cast wasn’t recklessly stocked with booze. According to Stewart, the islanders were lucky to get maybe two drinks during filming. Long live responsibility!

“Wine comes out of a magic cabinet. They tell you, ‘Go get your wine.’ [You get] one drink, maybe two if you’re lucky.”
Stewart also provided answers for those who have ever wondered about the cast’s perspective during filming. It’s apparently quite similar to that from a viewer’s perspective, according to statements made by the star.
“There are no cameramen visible to the islanders unless one creeps up and you see them in the bushes, but there are cameras posted [all] around the villa, that’s all. You only see the cameramen when you [accidentally] spot them, you do a dance scene or you have a one-on-one date.”
Stewart ended the video with a final answer for fans curious about whether the cast is responsible for cooking all of their meals.
“We only have to prepare breakfast – lunch and dinner are taken care of. Boys and girls are separated at lunch and dinner; we have chaperones and we are not allowed to talk to each other because that they don’t want the plot to unfold.” further, and they won’t film us eating because it’s not attractive.”
She hastily continued, “And I’m running out of time and I guess it’s my job now to talk about the island of love all the time.”
The abrupt ending begs the question: are we getting a second part of this series? Only time will tell. For now, you can watch the full video of Alexandra Stewart spilling all the backstage tea from Season 1 of love island usa in the video above.
